Recently, I was reading a book by Kenneth Hagin, Prayer Secrets.
I’ll be sharing a short review of the Chapter 2 of Prayer Secrets-The Prayer Secret of Asking The Father in Jesus’ Name.
And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily,verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask theFather in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.-John 16:23-24
This is anchor scripture for today’s review.
Our will matters in the place of prayer. The Bible says we have authority over demons and evil spirits not human spirits.
When we gather to pray in a group, it’s important that our will agrees with the faith of others so prayers can be answered.
Sin and unrighteousness
Our author tells a story of a man who needed healing from diabetes but could not be healed because defrauded his sister in law.
We need to shun unrighteousness because it can nullify our prayers.
Somebody may say that they believe John 16:23,24, but…don’t say “but,” because there’s not a “but” in that verse.
Somebody says they believe this Scripture, if. .. There is not an “if” in that verse, so don’t say “if.” Just take Jesus at His Word.
God does hear and answer prayers. The author admonishes us not to pray hoping God answers nu that he will answer.
Let us call attention to the difference between praying for Jesus’ sake and praying in the Name of Jesus. When you go to God and ask Him to do something for Jesus’ sake, you are asking that it be done to help Jesus, on your credit. That sounds foolish because Jesus does not need the help, and you don’t have any credit to guarantee it, if He did. We need the help, and He has the credit!
We are urged to strive to grow spiritually even as we continue to grow physically.
Praying in tongues
“In my name… they shall speak with new tongues ” (Mark16:17). Every believer ought to be speaking in
tongues.
“In my name . .. They shall take up serpents” (Mark 16:17,18). That means that if you are accidentally bitten by a viper, you can shake it off and claim immunity in the Name of Jesus
I pray our faith is strengthened, Amen
Notice that Jesus said, “In my name . .. they shall speak with new tongues . . . they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover” (Mark 16:17,18). You lay hands on people in His Name. You do the speaking in tongues, and the Holy Spirit gives the utterance. You have a right to do that in the Name of Jesus.
We do not have to be a Pastor to manifest all these. The ‘ordinary’ child of God has the same rights. If you have faith and believe in the name of Jesus, then use it!
We should not be scared to use Jesus name, let’s be bold because the name belongs to us just as our hands belongs to us.
